Ashkona blast girl regains consciousness

“Although she has come to her senses, but due to critical physical condition she is not able to talk yet,” said Ashraf Uddin Khan, consultant of casualty department at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. The girl was rushed to DMCH on Saturday afternoon after sustaining injuries in a suicide blast which CTTC unit Chief Monirul Islam said was carried out by her own mother Shakira. The blast left the woman dead and the kid and a police officer injured. At DMCH, The minor girl had undergone a successful surgery on Saturday night after doctors found that her left arm had been broken and splinters had pierced her belly making some holes in the esophagus. After doctors repaired the holes successfully, Dr Moshtaque Ahmed, DMCH indoor medical officer of casualty department, said: “We have repaired the holes. She has been kept in post operative ward.” The CTTC chief said: “Sabina’s own mother Shakira carried out the suicide blast. After Sabina’s father Iqbal died of cancer, Shakira married militant Sumon. As Sumon went missing about one and a half months ago, Shakira’s accomplices were considering marrying her off to another militant. ” After the blast, a critically injured Sabina while being rushed to DMCH introduced herself as the daughter of one Iqbal and Shakira.
