Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has recovered 50 locally-made chemical bombs and huge cache of explosives from the militant den in Dhaka’s Mirpur.
“Fifty chemical bombs, 17 strong bombs, 30 IED (Improvised Explosive Device) grenades, 10kg gunpowder, one container acid and other combustibles, 100 locally made sharp weapons, explosives and ignites were found in the hideout,” RAB spokesperson Mufti Mahmud Khan said in a press briefing on Friday afternoon as the 97-hour-long raid in the den ended.

On Friday, the elite force recovered seven powerful bombs, including two IEDs with refrigerators, 30 IED grenades, 20 chemical bombs, nine containers, 12kg explosives and one cartoon containing 1,000 ignites.
Mufti Mahmud said: “We made the whole building explosive-free and asked concerned authorities to check whether the building is livable or not due to the damage on third and fourth floors.”
“The top floor of the building was used as a bomb making lab by the militants,” he added.
Though the raid has ended, the damaged floor will remain under RAB surveillance.
