Bangladeshi woman sold for Rs1 lakh in India

A 21-year-old Bangladeshi woman, who was trafficked into prostitution, was allegedly sold in Mumbai. She was sold for Rs1 lakh to an agent by a Bangladeshi national in Mumbai's Mira Road, reports Hindustan Times. Police have arrested two people, out of five accused, in relation with the crime so far. Senior Inspector Kiran Kabadi of Palghar police station said the woman was brought to Mira Road 10 months ago. She was held captive at the house of the accused married couple, who were apprehended on Tuesday. According to the complaint lodged by the victim, she was taken to Palghar by two other men who also held her captive, and raped her. The Bangladeshi national, who allegedly sold her, has also been made an accused in the case. Police are now on the look out for the three accused. The accused were also booked under relevant Sections of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
