Police in a drive have arrested four persons on charge of violating a readymade garment (RMG) worker from Chittagong city’s Rahman Nagar area Saturday.
The alleged rapists were Md Hasan alias Joy, 25, and his cohorts Omar Faruk, 22, Jobayer Hossen Yasin, 23 and Sarif Uddin, 23, said police sources.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammed Mohsin of Bayezid police station said upon receiving complaint to the victim, police arrested the four from the different parts of Bayezid area.
OC Mohsin said the victim went to her aunt’s house at Rahman Nagar area along with her distant relative one Ramjan on Friday evening. The four waylaid the RMG worker while she was returning home and forcibly violated her picking up a nearby hill at Bayezid.
“The victim knows Hasan while the youth used to stalk her on the way to office and home since long”, said the OC.
Later the woman lodged a complaint against the four persons with the Bayezid police station after getting free from their custody while police arrested the four in an overnight drive, the OC added.
Police were interrogating the four accused.
