A sex video uploaded on Facebook by the male participant has drawn an allegation of rape from the Habiganj schoolgirl in the clip who said she had been filmed without her consent.
In a rape complaint filed with Habiganj Sadar police station on Tuesday night, the schoolgirl alleged that she had been lured into having sex on a promise of marriage.
She said she was later threatened with public exposure, using the secret recording made of her, if she refused to continue having sex with her alleged rapist.
“An allegation of rape has been filed over the circulated video and we are conducting drives to track down the alleged perpetrator,” Sadar model police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Nazim Uddin said.
According to the complaint, Junayed Ahmed Sagar, son of Abdul Hai of Paikpara village, had secretly videotaped the act in a residential hotel on Shaistaganj Railway Station Road on December 10, aided by his friend Kausar.
The schoolgirl in the video claims she had been misled by false promises of marriage by Sagar and alleged that she had been forced to continue having sexual relations with him on pain of public humiliation if she did not.
When, on February 25, the schoolgirl put an end to any further contact with him, Sagar retaliated by putting the clip on Facebook, according to the complaint.
The video has since gone viral.
“Sagar raped me under the promise of marrying me and recorded us on tape. He circulated the footage on Facebook when I refused to allow the illicit relationship to continue. I want justice,” the schoolgirl said.
Her parents say she has tried to commit suicide several times, has withdrawn from her studies and now barely leaves the house.
They stand by their daughter’s account of the events and say they want to see Sagar arrested and charged for the offence.
Neither Sagar nor his father could be reached for comments.
