A Chittagong court yesterday sent Mahbub Ali Khan Dany, an accused of gruesome Himadri Majumdar Himu murder case, to jail after he was arrested from Chittagong city’s Panslaish area.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP)’s Assistant Commissioner (AC) (prosecution) Nimalendu Bikash Chawakrabarty said the court of Additional Metropolitan Session Judge Nurul Islam had given order to send him to jail after he was produced before the court.
Earlier, police arrested Danny, son of Md Ali, from his house at Khaja Manjil at Panchlaish Residential area yesterday morning.
Himadri Majumdar Himu, 18, a A-level student of Summerfield School and College, was allegedly pushed off the roof of a four-storied building in Panchlaish Residential Area on April 27, 2012 by his friends after being tortured by dogs.
Family members and police said Himu was murdered as he strongly took position against drug. He died in Dhaka after fighting for 26 days for life.
Asit Das, uncle of the deceased, lodged a case with Panchlaish police station accusing five people.
Police submitted the charge-sheet of the case on September 30, 2012 accusing Junaid Ahmed Riad, Shah Selim Tipu, Shahadat Hossain Shaju, Mahbub Ali Khan Danny and Zahidul Islam Shaon.
All of them were indicted on February 3, 2014. Tipu and Shaju are on bail while the others are on run.
The argument by the prosecution ended on October 10, last year while the prosecution.
