A man has allegedly hurled acid at his wife over trivial matter at Kunapara in Demra of the capital.
The heinous incident took place on Tuesday morning and the alleged husband went into hiding soon after the offence.
The victim, Jesmin, 28, wife of Amir Hossain, was admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Amir is a bearing factory employee in Demra and the couple have three children.
DMCH burn unit Medical Officer Abu Sayed said Jesmin sustained 10% burn injuries.
Sources said Amir married to Jesmin about nine years ago and they had been living in a rented house on Shahjalal road of Kunapara. For three months, Amir suspected her wife of extramarital affair and they used to lock in brawling over it.
As sequel to the matter, an altercation ensued between the couple this morning and Amir threw acid at her.
Local people rescued Jesmin hearing her scream and got admitted her to the DMCH.
When contacted, Demra police station OC Kawser Ahmed said they were trying best to arrest Amir.
