Sixteen students of Dhaka University were expelled yesterday for being involved in different crimes including exam forgery and having ties with banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir.
The university’s syndicate took the decision Sunday night in a meeting headed by Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique.
Among the 16 students, six were expelled for giving proxy test and resorting to fraudulence in public university admission tests, seven for their involvement with the banned Islamist outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir, two were expelled for assaulting a female student in TSC area and one for vandalising the office of the provost of Amar Ekushey Hall.
On the issue, Proctor Amzad Ali said: “All the students have been expelled after proper investigation.”
