A housewife succumbed to her injuries early yesterday when she was undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Laily Begum, 30, wife of Md Yusuf Ali, was admitted to the CMCH after she was allegedly burnt by her husband over family feud on Wednesday. Sub-Inspector of CMCH Police Outpost Jahirul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune that Laily was admitted to the hospital with 90% burn injuries.
Family members of the deceased alleged that Yusuf, the second husband of Laily, set her on fire pouring kerosene over family dispute at their residence located in Sher-Shah Banglabazar area.
Officer-in-Charge of Bayezid police station Mohammed Mohsin told the Dhaka Tribune that Laily got married with Yusuf two months back.
Following the incident, police detained Yusuf. During interrogation, he claimed that Laily attempted to commit suicide over family feud. A case was filed and the body was sent to the CMCH morgue for autopsy.
