Kidnapped siblings found dead in Cox's Bazar forest

Police have found the bodies of two young siblings, kidnapped three days ago, in the dense forest of Garjania in the district's Ramu upazila.

The remains of Imam Hossain, 11, and Imam Hasan, 9, sons of Md Forkan alias Mintu of Barobil, Garjania, were sent to the district hospital morgue for autopsy.

“The boys were probably strangled to death,” Baishari police investigation centre In-charge Anisur Rahman said.

The bodies were recovered around 5am Wednesday after two of the alleged kidnappers, Abdus Sukkur and Alamgir Hossain, were arrested by police.

Police were able to locate the bodies based on statements taken from Sukkur and Alamgir.

Anisur said Hossain and Hasan had been abducted on Sunday and a ransom of Tk4 lakh had been demanded for their release.

Angry local residents set the house in which the boys had been confined on fire around 11am on Wednesday.

Ramu police station Officer-in-Charge Md Abdul Majid said police, with the help of the residents of the area, were carrying out drives to arrest the others involved in the kidnapping and murder of the siblings.
