A Chittagong court has placed two policemen and a source of the police in a gold robbery case lodged with Kotowali police station in the city on September 21.
The remanded were identified as --- Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Mizanur Rahman and Constable Jane Alam of Enayet Bazar police outpost and ‘police source’ Al Amin Sharif alias Rasel.
They were arrested on December 15 from different areas in the city following a case lodged by a gold trader Dolon Bishwash on charges of snatching about 1.2kg gold.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Rahmat Ali has passed the remand order on Tuesday, said Nirmalendu Bikash Chakrabarty, assistant commissioner (prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).
He said the trio was produced before the court on Tuesday afternoon.
Priton Sarker, Sub-Inspector of Kotwali police station said they had prayed for a five-day remand while the court granted a two-day each.
Following the case, the trio was arrested on December 15 and the two policemen were suspended temporarily.
