An extremist was killed early yesterday in a gunfight between two outlawed groups of Jessore’s Abhaynagar upazila.
The gunfight took place in the upazila’s Ranagati village between Zia Bahini and Turo-Noso Bahini around 2:30am.
The dead Bidyut Kumar Roy, 35, was a listed criminal with nine cases against him including murder, Officer-in-Charge of Abhaynagar police station Sheikh Nasir Uddin said.
He said a gunfight was taking place in Ranagati village between two terrorist groups over establishing supremacy in the area.
Later, a team of police went to the spot around 3:30am and recovered the body.
