Goyeshwar sent to jail upon surrender

BNP Standing Committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy was sent to jail after he surrendered before a court yesterday in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.

Metropolitan Session’s Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Molla passed the order after hearing a bail petition filed by the BNP leader’s counsel.

On Tuesday, the same court issued a warrant for the arrest of 35 BNP-Jamaat Shibir leaders and activists, including Goyeshwar and former Dhaka city mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, in the case as the accused did not appear before the court during the hearing.

The court also directed the OC of Rampura police to submit by January 27 next year reports on the execution of the arrest warrants.

Previously arrested on December 26 in a criminal cases, Goyeshwar was released from the Kashimpur jail on July 16.
