A drug trader yesterday died in Baganpara area under the district due to cardiac arrest after he ran way sensing the presence of police.
The deceased was Shahidul Islam, 45.
Sources said a team of police went to the area to arrest another accused around 11am.
Sensing the presence of police in the area, Shahidul started to run thinking that the police might have arrested him. After sometimes, he fell down on the way.
Locals rescued him and sent to local hospital where doctors on duty declared him dead.
Sub-Inspector Ameer Abbas of Sadar police station confirmed the incident.
