Kibria murder: Absence of accused delays case

Testimonies of two prosecution witnesses in Shah AMS Kibria murder case could not be recorded yesterday due to absence of some accused and their lawyers.

Sylhet’s Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Makbul Ahsan yesterday set November 4 and 5 for next hearing.

So far, four witnesses out of 171 have given statement in the case. New witnesses – Abdur Rouf and Erfan Ali – were produced before the court during the proceedings.

Of the 32 accused, eight are on bail, 10 absconding and 13 others in jail. Another accused, sacked Sylhet mayor Ariful Huq, is undergoing treatment in Dhaka under jail custody.

The trial began on September 30, nearly 15 years after the grenade attack.
