Court again rejects bail plea of Shahadat’s wife

A Dhaka court yesterday once again rejected the bail prayer of Jesmin Jahan Nitto, wife of suspended national cricketer Sahadat Hossain, in a case filed for torturing their housemaid.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Amirul Haidar Chowdhury rejected the plea.

Shahadat’s counsel said: ‘‘She has a breast-feeding baby of nine months who needs her mother badly. She has been languishing in jail for 13 days. So her bail may be allowed.”

On October 4, police arrested Nitto in Pabna Lane in the Malibagh area of the capital in connection with the case. Later, a court sent her to jail after rejecting her bail petition while her husband was still on the run.

Meanwhile, Shahadat was sent to jail on Tuesday as Court rejected his bail plea as well after the completion of his three-day remand in the same case.
