A man has allegedly killed his pregnant wife over family feud at Maniknagar in Mugda area of the capital early Wednesday.
However, police in the morning managed to arrest the alleged killer namely Shah Alam Sohag, a resident of the area, and he was taken to Mugda police station.
Sohag's wife Tanjila Islam Binti, 30, was five months into the pregnancy, reports UNB.
When asked, the victim’s uncle Farhad Hossain said Sohag had married Binti five years ago and the couple has a four-year-old son as well.
Sohag used to torture Binti since after their marriage, centring which they engaged in a quarrel over a family matter around 3:30am.
At one stage, Sohag mercilessly kicked at Binti’s abdomen leaving her critically injured.
Later, she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where physicians declared her dead at about 4:30am.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
DMCH police camp In-charge Mozammel Haque confirmed the arrest of Sohag.
