A mobile court yesterday afternoon fined Apollo Hospital authorities Tk1.6m after finding unauthorised medicine at its pharmacy.
RAB sources said the pharmacy is run by the hospital authorities.
RAB 1 Operation Officer Muhit Kabir Serniabat told the Dhaka Tribune: “A mobile court run by RAB 1, led by Executive Magistrate Firoz Ahmed, raided a pharmacy run by the hospital authorities.”
He said illegal drugs of 51 categories worth about Tk10 lakh were seized from the pharmacy as they were not authorised by the government or quality was not properly maintained.
“The hospital authorities were fined Tk16 lakh for keeping these medicines without approval,” he added.
The RAB official quoted hospital authorities as saying that they bought the medicine without approval as many of their patients who were treated abroad demanded those when they visited the hospital.
