A youth has been chopped to death in Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal in dispute over ownership of land.
The victim was identified as Al-Amin Haoladar, 35, son of Abdus Salam Haoladar, from Madanpur village under Kazirhut police station of the upazila.
Shawkat Anowar, Kazirhut police station officer in charge, said a group armed with lethal and sharp weapons led by Manjur, cousin of the victim, attacked and chopped Al Amin severely over old rivalry about ownership of land on Saturday afternoon.
Injured Al Amin was rushed to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College by speed boat in critical condition.
However Al-Amin declared dead at 3:45pm by Dr Shain Reaza, emergency medical officer, after he was admitted to SBMCH.
The body was sent to SBMCH morgue for autopsy, Abul Kalam ward master of the hospital informed.
No case was lodged till this filing of this report, but police started drive to arrest the killers, said the OC of Kazirhut PS.
