Members of Rapid Action Battalion have arrested seven suspected members of an organised kidnapping gang from Shahjalal International Airport area in the capital.
Six of the arrestees were identified as Jashim, Shahidul, Sohrab Hawladar, Manir Matabbar, Sanaul Bepari and Nipa Begum while the identity of the other could not be known immediately.
Muhith Kabir, operation officer of RAB-1, told the Dhaka Tribune: 'Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-1 conducted a drive in the area on Friday night and picked the criminals up.”
The elite force also recovered a microbus, Tk50,000 cash, one gun, six mobile phone sets, a doping balm and a handcuff from their possession.
