Two people have been killed and 18 others injured when a gang of local criminals attacked a landless community at Chingrakhali under Kaliganj upazila in Satkhira.
The deceased are Ashraf Meer, 56, and Ishaq Par.
A pipe-gun and three crude bombs were recovered from the spot.
Kaliganj Circle Assistant Police Super Monir Hossain said: “There was a longstanding conflict between the landless community people and local criminals over the acquisition of government owned land.
“Following the matter, the criminals attacked the landless people on Monday morning that left Ashraf and Ishaq critically injured.”
Later, they died while undergoing treatment at Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex.
He said additional police have been deployed in the area.
