Three suspected robbers have been killed and another has been injured in a mob beating while trying to steal a motorcycle in Gomastapur upazila of the district.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately, reports UNB.
Firoz Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Gomastapur police station, said a gang of 10/12 bandits intercepted a motorcyclist in Boalia area on Gomastapur-Bholanathpur highway around 7:15pm on Wednesday and attempted to snatch it away.
Hearing victim’s screams, locals rushed to spot and encircled the robbers and caught four of them.
Later, the angry locals beat them indiscriminately, leaving them critically injured.
On information, police rescued the injured robbers and rushed them to Gomastapur upazila health complex where on duty doctors declared one of them dead and two others were succumbed to their injuries at the hospital later.
