BNP leader Mintoo gets bail

A Dhaka court yesterday granted BNP chairperson’s adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo bail after he surrendered to the court and filed a bail petition in a vandalism case.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh bailed him after the petition was submitted by his counsel Md Sanaullah Miah.

The case was filed in connection with vandalising a BRTC bus and setting it on fire in front of Baitul Mukarram mosque on January 6.

The driver of the bus lodged the case.

Several BNP members, including the party’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Dhaka city unit Convener Mirza Abbas and Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, were named in the case.
