CP Gang member arrested in capital

Police early yesterday arrested a member of the Crack Platoon (CP) Gang, a pro-government online platform, in a case filed for creating offensive Facebook posts.

The arrestee, Arup Ratan Pal, 27, was picked up by a joint team of the Rampura and Charghat police from the capital’s Rampura area around 5am.

SI Khairul Islam of Charghat police station in Rajshahi, also the Investigation officer of the case, said a person named Tapash Sarker filed the case, alleging that the Facebook page, CP Gang, had harassed him by making offensive and false posts.

The case was filed under the ICT Act on May 24.

He said police picked up Arup as he was one of the administrators of the Facebook page.

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Rampura police station Abdur Rahim said directed by the police station, he helped the team arrive from Rajshahi.

He along with the team arrested Arup from the CP Gang’s office at Mahanagar Project area of Rampura, and after that, the team returned to Rajshahi from the capital in the morning, he added.
