7 robbers arrested with arms in Chittagong

Police in a drive arrested seven robbers along with sharp weapons and firearms in their possession from Central Railway Building (CRB) area in Chittagong city early yesterday.

Police recovered a light gun, two rounds of bullet, four cleavers, two toy pistols, six mobiles and a CNG-run autorickshaw from their possession, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jasim Uddin of Kotwali police station.

All the members belong to the notorious band of robber “Hamko Milon”; details of the arrestees could not yet be ascertained, added OC Jasim.

The OC told Dhaka Tribune that after receiving information that the robbers were preparing for a robbery, a team of police raided the CRB area after Tuesday midnight and detained the seven robbers.

The gang have been engaged in robbery and mugging at the port city for some time and were accused in several arms and mugging cases filed with different police stations of Chittagong, said the OC.

Police recovered six mobile phones that have been mugged and seized the CNG used for their activities. Four cases were lodged with Kotwali police station in this regard, OC Jasim added.
