A female staff member of a school has allegedly been raped by a teacher in the district's Shahrasti upazila.
The authorities of Panchagram Azizur Rahman High School have suspended both the teacher and the staff member following the allegation.
The accused, Sanjit Kumar Sarker,50, has also been issued a show cause notice. He was asked to answer the show cause notice within seven working days.
Headmaster of the school Samar Chandra Majumdar said: “The female staff member submitted the complaint against the assistant headmaster on June 6.
According to her compliant, Sanjit raped her several times, seducing her with marriage. But, now he is refusing to marry her.”
Abdur Rab, head of the school management committee, said: “We have informed the local parliament member and the UNO about the issue. We also formed a three-member probe body.
“The probe-body asked both the teacher and the female staff not to attend office until the issue is solved.”
While contacted, Sanjit denied the allegation and claimed that it was a conspiracy against him.
