Unknown miscreants have stabbed a teenage boy to death and injured two others in the town’s Karbala area.
The deceased is Raihan Hossain, 16, son of Golam Rabbani, of the Aminia Madrasa area in the town, and the injured are Amit, 17, and Sujoy, 16.
Kotwali police station OC Sikdar Akkas Ali said: “Unknown miscreants attacked the teenagers with a knife at around 12 midnight while they were performing religious rituals at the Hazrat Borhan Shah Shrine in the town's Karbala area.
“Later, locals rescued them and admitted them to Jessore General Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared Raihan dead at around 12:30am on Wednesday.”
Injured Amit and Sujoy have been shifted to Dhaka for better treatment.
The motive behind the attack could not be known immediately and an investigation is underway, said police.
