Members of Rapid Action Battalion have arrested two pirates with arms and ammunition from Sundarbans.
The arrestees are Sumon Bahini chief Sumon and his second-in-command Rabiul.
RAB 6 ASP Mahfuzul Islam said: "Acting on a tip-off, members of RAB and Coast Guard conducted a drive in Koromjol area early Monday and arrested the two from an area adjacent to the Forest Division office.”
He said four firearms and 76 rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, police also seized their boat.
Coast Guard Mongla Contingent Captain Kazi Mehedi Masud said "Pirates had been attacking small ships for some time now. Following such incidents, we had intensified the drive.”
