The son of a former lawmaker from the ruling Awami League has been trying to grab huge land of the country’s biggest poultry company Kazi Farms Group with the help of their musclemen, claims the company.
The company purchased the land at Dohazari in Chandanaish upazila of the district.
Local miscreants have recently repeatedly vandalised and attacked the staff of Dohazari Kazi Poultry Ltd.
In the latest move, local UP member Nasir as well as some nearby Sanowara Poultry employees thronged with 50-60 others, who are known as the followers of former lawmaker Nurul Islam BSc, made the attack on May 28 evening and locked all the office rooms with the intention of taking possession on the land. However, police foiled the move later.
Earlier, on May 21, the same people during another attack removed boundary pillars and three days later they conducted assault on its five staff, said police and the sources at the farm.
In this regard, Abdul Motaleb Khan, legal affairs department executive of Kazi Farms Group, booked a GD with Chandanaish police station, confirms OC Abul Kashem Bhuiyan.
According to the GD, the company two years ago purchased the land of 113 acres from Sanowara Poultry and Hatchery Limited, which was owned by Nurul Islam B.Sc.
Major (Rtd) Sheikh Masumul Hasan, general manager of Dohazari Kazi Poultry Ltd, said: “The company which sold the land belongs about 320 acres in the area, but there is flaw in huge portion of those. Our company bought only the land having proper documents. Some local culprits instructed by Nurul Islam BSc are now trying to force us to buy the rest lands which are with problematic documents. So they have been making the attack,” he said.
“We had asked the Sanowara Group several times to sit in a meeting to solve the problem while the company’ Deputy Managing Director Mojibur Rahman and also son of Nurul Islam BSc is not giving any reply to their repeated calls,” the GM continued.
He went on that the company had intention to grab their whole land if its recent moves fail.
When contacted, the OC said they were looking into the matter and increased patrolling at the area.
OC Kashem went on that: “It will be wise to solve the disputes with discussion by both companies although they have some limitations over the issue.”
Meanwhile, local UP member Nasir in a telephone conversation with the Dhaka Tribune admitted of his involved in the attack.
Nasir said: “Mojibur ordered us to conduct such misdeeds.”
On the other hand, the Dhaka Tribune could not reach Mojibur over mobile phone despite repeated attempts.
