A police personnel’s wife has been found dead in a residence in the captial's Mughda area on Tuesday evening.
The deceased is Shilpi Maitra, 32, wife of police constable Dipak Maitra of Kotwali police.
Sub-inspector Uzzal Hossain of Mughda police confirmed the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “The woman found hanged with a scarf from the ceiling at a house in Nasiruddin lane in South Mughda area.”
Shilpi’s brother Mihir Maitra claimed that her sister was either killed or forced to commit suicide to get rid of the persistent torture by her husband for money.
Being informed police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on duty doctor declared her dead around 7:30pm.
Legislative measures would be taken after the autopsy report, SI Uzzal said.
