Alleged robbers hacked a security guard to death yesterday during robbery in a readymade garments at Sonia Market in Gazirchot area under Ashulia of Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Sattar, 50, son of Mohiuddin Sarkar of Rahimpur village in Naogaon.
Aminul, son of deceased said: “A group of robbers swooped on the market in the morning. My father tried to resist them while they were trying to break the locks of the godowns.”
“They tied up the hands and legs of my father and hacked him indiscriminately,” he added.
The robbers robbed goods worth about Tk20 lakh and fled the scene.
Ashulia police station Officer-in-Charge Mostofa Kamal said: “On information, police went to the spot and took Abdul to hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead.”
No one was arrested in this connection, he said.
