The Jagannath University authorities have expelled Chhatra League leader Araz Miah for physically assaulting Lubna Jebin Lopa, a teacher of the university.
The JnU authorities have issued a press release signed by Saiful Islam, assistant director of Public Relations, Information and Publications office of the university, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the press note, Araz Miah, joint secretary of the JnU unit Chhatra League and a student of Islamic history and culture of 2009-10 session, has been expelled from the University following the recommendations by the university probe body.
Earlier on April 26, Lpoa, a teacher of public administration department was assaulted by Araz following an altercation.
The teacher later filed a complaint and a case with Kotowali police station.
Araz was immediately suspended temporarily from the university and a three-member probe body led by JnU acting proctor Dr Ali Nur has been formed to investigate the matter.
The committee was asked to submit its report in seven days.
Besides, the law enforcers were also asked to take necessary action as the victim has filed a criminal case with the police.
