A Jamalpur court has sentenced a man for allegedly spreading a video online of his raping a woman in the Bakshiganj upazila of the district.
Police arrested Masud with the rape video and mobile on Sunday night, following a case filed by the victim's family, said OC Mostasinur Rahman of Bakshiganj.
He was produced before the court of the district judicial magistrate on Monday. Later, he ordered the detainee to be sent to jail.
The police official said Masud, son of Aurangazeb, of Ujanpara village under the Battajor Union of Bakshiganj upazila, recently raped his sister-in-law, threatening her, at his house at the T&T road area in Kamalpur under the municipal area. Earlier, his wife was sent to her father's house.
He recorded the video of the rape scenes, said the OC.
A few days later, Masud called the victim again to come to his house.
Outraged by her denial to respond to his call, he spread the rape video online.
The incident soon agitated the locality.
The victim's family filed a case with Bakshiganj police under the acts of rape and information technology.
