SC stays bail of Manna

A three-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Monday morning, in response to a petition filed by the government seeking a stay of the High Court bail order. The court asked the state to file a regular leave-to-appeal petition by November 27. Manna was arrested on February 24 last year, a day after the leak of his controversial telephone conversation with BNP leader Sadek Hossain Khoka, who had been staying in the USA for treatment purposes. The audio tape revealed that they were allegedly plotting a conspiracy of bloodshed in universities.
