Shapla Chattar case: Charge framing hearing deferred to Nov 1

The International Crimes Tribunal has postponed the hearing on charge framing in the case over alleged crimes against humanity committed during the Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel, Dhaka, and set November 1 for the hearing.

The hearing had been scheduled for Wednesday, but it was postponed following an application by the prosecution.

Of the 41 accused in the case, 11 who are in custody were produced before the tribunal in the morning.

According to the prosecution, 58 people were killed in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Chittagong and Comilla in connection with the Hefazat-e-Islam rally on May 5, 2013.

The investigation agency identified 32 deaths in Dhaka, 20 in Narayanganj, five in Chittagong and one in Comilla.
