A Dhaka court on Sunday sent 27 people to jail who were arrested from the office of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD).
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order as the police produced them before the court and pleaded to keep them behind bars under section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
The detainees are-Md Dinarul Alam Tuhin, Iman Ahmed Emon, Molla Mohammad Shahjahan Siraj, Joy Sarker, Md Miraj Ahmed, Md Miraj Mallik, Md Robiul Islam, Milon Kumar Mohanta, Md Kawsar Hossain, Sri Antar Shil, Jalal Uddin Mondal, Abdul Latif, Shamim Ahmed, Ahmed Ahsan Habib, Md Sujon Ali, Md Tarikul Islam, Md Saifullah Sadek, Nayan Ali, Sajidul Islam Tuhin, Tajul Islam, Samrat Hossain Talukder, Anwar Hossain, Md Alamgir Hossain, Md Al Amin Howlader, Md Tushar Ali, Md Rashidul Haque and Mir Muktisur Rahman.
Police in its plea said the accused were detained after creating a disorderly situation by chanting slogans inside the central office of JaSaD on September 26.
"During interrogation, they could not give any satisfactory explanation for their presence at the spot. The accused were therefore sent to the court for the time being under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. There was a preliminary suspicion that the accused might be involved in a cognizable offence," the police plea added.
