A formal complaint has been filed with the International Crimes Tribunal against five people, including former CTTC chief Asaduzzaman Miah and Additional Deputy Commissioner Ishtiaq Ahmed.
The complaint concerns the alleged enforced disappearance and murder of Abul Hossain Al Amin, principal of Ibn Masud Madrasa in Chattar, Gazipur.
Rashed Khan, political assistant to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, filed the complaint with the tribunal on Wednesday.
Earlier, the tribunal's investigation agency submitted its report to the prosecution, implicating five people, including then CTTC chief Asaduzzaman, ADC Ishtiaq Ahmed and then police inspector Asaduzzaman Miah.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, a group posing as Detective Branch (DB) police abducted Al Amin from Ibn Masud Madrasa in Gazipur on January 30, 2023. He has not been seen or heard from since.
The investigation report said Al Amin was tortured after being detained and allegedly died from the torture. His body was subsequently dumped in the Dhaleshwari River, according to the report.
The report said the CTTC unit arrested six people from different parts of the country on January 28, 2023. Based on information obtained during remand interrogations, a team led by then CTTC ADC Ishtiaq Ahmed detained Al Amin from the madrasa on January 30.
It was alleged that Al Amin was subjected to physical torture for 18 consecutive days at the CTTC office on Minto Road. He became critically ill and later died at the Central Police Hospital, according to the investigation report.
The report further alleged that the accused sought to conceal his death by dumping his body into the Dhaleshwari River from Tulsikhali Bridge in Keraniganj.
