The International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Thursday ordered 30 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, to surrender before the tribunal by September 16 in a case over the alleged Shapla Chattar massacre during a Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh rally in 2013.
The three-member ICT-2, headed by Justice Nozrul Islam Chowdhury, passed the order and directed the authorities concerned to publish advertisements in daily newspapers notifying the accused of the order.
The tribunal also set September 30 for the next hearing in the case.
Ten arrested accused, including former minister Hasanul Haque Inu, writer Shahriar Kabir and former minister Dipu Moni, were produced before the tribunal on Thursday.
However, journalist Farzana Rupa was not brought before the tribunal as she was unwell.
The other accused produced before the tribunal were former state minister for home Shamsul Haque Tuku, former food minister Dr Abdur Razzaque, former minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui, former IGP AKM Shahidul Haque, Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan, former DIG Abdul Jalil Mondal and former managing director of Ekattor TV Mozammel Haque Babu.
Earlier, on August 16, 11 accused were scheduled to be produced before the tribunal.
On July 27, ICT-2 took cognizance of the formal charges filed by the prosecution against 41 accused.
The case involves two charges, including the killing of 32 people at Shapla Chattar on May 5, 2013, and the killing of 20 people on May 6 in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, and other parts of the country.
