The Appellate Division’s Chamber Judge Court has upheld the High Court’s bail order for former chief justice A B M Khairul Haque in a case filed under the attempted murder and Explosives Act over violence during the July 2024 mass uprising.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Md Rezaul Haque passed a “no order” on Monday on a state petition seeking a stay on the High Court’s bail order.
Following the order, Khairul Haque’s lawyers said there is no longer any legal impediment to his release from jail.
Senior lawyer Motahar Hossain Saju appeared for Khairul Haque, assisted by lawyers Monayem Nabi Shaheen and others.
Earlier, on August 10, a High Court bench comprising Justice K M Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher granted Khairul Haque bail in the case filed at Banani Police Station over the July uprising.
Khairul Haque was arrested from his Dhanmondi residence on July 24, 2025. He was later shown arrested in a case over the killing of Jubo Dal activist Abdul Qayyum Ahad in Jatrabari during the uprising and subsequently in several other cases.
