The High Court has granted interim bail to former DGFI director and dismissed Lieutenant Colonel Md Afzal Naser in a murder case filed in connection with the July uprising in Dhaka.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Md Khairul Alam and Justice Md Rafizul Islam passed the order along with a rule on Tuesday following a petition filed by Afzal Naser.
Deputy Attorney General Masudul Alam Doha confirmed the matter.
“He has been granted bail, but a note has already been issued to seek leave to appeal before the Appellate Division,” he said.
Afzal Naser was arrested late at night on March 29. He was shown arrested in a murder case filed over a shooting incident in Mirpur on July 19, 2024.
He served with the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) from March 2006 to March 2008.
