A Dhaka court granted bail Navana Group Vice Chairman Sajedul Islam on Wednesday, hours after being arrested in a labour law case over the alleged non-payment of dues to a former employee.
Judge Golam Azam of Dhaka's First Labour Court granted bail to Sajedul and three other accused after they appeared before the court and sought bail, court sources said.
According to case-related sources, the court had earlier issued an arrest warrant against Sajedul in a case filed over the alleged non-payment of around Tk23 lakh owed to a former officer of Aftab Automobiles.
Police from Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station arrested Sajedul in the early hours of Wednesday and later produced him before the court.
Sources said law enforcers had remained stationed outside his residence since Tuesday night and arrested him shortly after gaining access to the house.
The three other accused in the case also filed bail petitions. Following a hearing, the court granted bail to all four.
Further proceedings in the case will continue in accordance with court directives.
