SC suspends virtual court proceedings

The virtual court proceedings of both divisions of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh have been suspended until further notice.

The information was disclosed in a notification issued on Sunday, signed by Acting Registrar General Muhammad Nurul Amin Biplob under the order of the chief justice.

According to the notice, virtual court activities—including those of the Chamber Court—scheduled for Wednesdays and Thursdays each week will remain suspended until further instructions. The order takes immediate effect.

Earlier, on April 21, a notification signed by Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee had announced that both the Appellate and High Court Divisions would conduct proceedings virtually on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

That earlier decision was taken in consideration of the global energy situation, allowing courts to operate virtually under the Information and Communication Technology Act, 2020, and relevant Supreme Court practice directions.
