High Court grants ex-Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Ivy bail in two cases

The High Court has granted bail to former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in two cases filed with Siddhirganj Police Station.

A High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher passed the order on Thursday.

Ivy was arrested on May 9, 2025, at around 3am from her residence, Chunka Kutir, in Narayanganj’s Deobhog area. She was later shown to be arrested in multiple cases.

The High Court had earlier granted her bail in five cases, but the Appellate Division subsequently stayed those orders.

On November 18, 2025, she was again shown to be arrested in five more cases. The High Court granted her bail in those cases on February 26, but those bail orders were also later stayed following appeals by the state.

In the meantime, police sought to show her arrested in two murder cases filed with Siddhirganj Police Station on September 11, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Narayanganj approved the applications to show her arrested in the two cases on March 2 and April 12, respectively.

Following this, the High Court granted her fresh bail in the two cases.
