HC grants bail to Ex- Cox’s Bazar MP Bodi

The High Court on Thursday granted bail to former Cox’s Bazar Member of Parliament Abdur Rahman Bodi in a case.

The order was issued by a HC bench comprising Justice Md Atowar Rahman and Justice Bishwajit Debnath.

Bodi, who was arrested on August 20, 2024 from the Panchlaish area of Chittagong, had been taken into custody by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in connection with an attempted murder case in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.

As an Awami League candidate, Bodi was elected Member of the Parliament for Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhiya-Teknaf) constituency in both the 9th and 10th national parliamentary elections.

In August 2024, a case was filed at Teknaf Police Station against 33 individuals, naming Bodi as the prime accused over allegations of vandalism, looting, and attacks on local businesses in Teknaf.

Teknaf Upazila Parishad Chairman Zafar Ahmed was also listed among the accused. The complaint was lodged by Mohammad Abdullah, treasurer of the Cox’s Bazar district unit of the BNP, and included around 70 unidentified individuals as co-accused.
