The International Crimes Tribunal-2, chaired by Justice Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, on Sunday, directed the publication of notices in newspapers against 24 absconding accused in the murder case of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayed, who was killed in connection with the anti-discrimination student movement in Rangpur.
The tribunal also ordered their appearance before the court by July 22.
Additionally, the tribunal instructed authorities to show arrested accused Rafiul Hasan Russell and Anwar Parvez Apil—currently detained in connection with other cases—as arrested in this case and produce them before the court.
The prosecution was represented by Prosecutors Abdus Sobhan Tarafder and Abdus Sattar Palwan, assisted by Prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud.
Earlier, several accused already in custody were produced before the tribunal.
They include former police sub-inspector Amir Hossain, constable Sujon Chandra Roy, the university’s former proctor Shariful Islam and Chhatra League activist Imran Chowdhury Akash.
On June 30, the tribunal took cognizance of the charges in the Abu Sayed murder case and simultaneously issued arrest warrants against the absconding accused.
The investigation agency submitted its report to the tribunal, naming 30 individuals as being involved in the murder of Abu Sayed.
