The High Court on Sunday asked the Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to remove video footage of a rape in Muradnagar upazila, circulated on social media.
The High Court bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Sayed Jahed Mansur passed the order responding to a writ petition filed by Advocate Mir AKM Nurun Noby and asked the BTRC to submit a progress report on July 14.
The court also asked the authorities concerned to ensure security of the rape survivor and provide necessary treatment to her.
Deputy Attorney General Tanim Khan and Assistant Attorney General Ikramul Kabir stood for the state.
The woman was raped in Ramchandrapur Panchkitta village in Muradnagar upazila on the night of Thursday.
Video footage of the assault went viral on social networking sites on Saturday.
Police arrested the key accused, identified as Fazar Ali Fazar, 36, son of Shahid Mia of Bahechar (Purbo Para) village in Muradnagar upazila, in Dhaka’s Sutrapur area early on Sunday.
Four more accused, Sumon, Ramjan Ali, Md Arif and Md Anik, were also arrested in this connection in Muradnagar upazila.
