Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, the sister of the slain Major (Retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan, has expressed satisfaction with the High Court's verdict upholding a trial court’s judgment in his murder case and called for the verdict to be implemented quickly.
She made the remarks to reporters on Monday after the High Court announced its verdict.
She said: "The High Court verdict is historic. We are satisfied with this verdict. We want the sentence to be executed swiftly once all procedures are completed."
Earlier, a High Court bench comprising Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman and Justice Md Sagir Hossain upheld the death sentences given to former OC Pradeep Kumar Das and former inspector Md Liakat Ali in the Sinha murder case.
The court also maintained the life imprisonment sentences for six other accused.
Additionally, the order imposing a fine of Tk50,000 on each accused was upheld.
The accused sentenced to life imprisonment are former sub-inspector Nanda Dulal Rakshit, constable Rubel Sharma, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sagar Deb, and constables Nurul Amin, Nezam Uddin, and Mohammad Ayaz Uddin.
