A Satkhira court on Tuesday sent former MP of a reserved women’s seat, Laila Parvin Sejuti, to jail.
The Satkhira Chief Judicial Magistrate Court ordered her detention when she was produced before the court in a case filed over subversive activities.
Shaminul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station, said police arrested Sejuti, who also serves as the Education and Human Resource Affairs secretary of the Satkhira unit of the Awami League—from her residence early Tuesday.
A case was filed against the former MP with Sadar police station following the July uprising.
Police filed the case against Sejuti on February 18, 2025.
