The former railway minister and former member of parliament for Comilla-11, Mujibul Haque, along with his wife Hanufa Akter Rikita, have been in two separate cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The two cases were filed under the relevant sections of the ACC Act and the Penal Code, 1860.
The cases were filed on Monday, as confirmed by the director-general of ACC, Md Akhtar Hossain.
ACC has alleged that during his tenure, Mujibul Haque allegedly misused his power to acquire illegal assets worth Tk7,39,41,351, which is inconsistent with his known sources of income.
Meanwhile, Hanufa Akter Rikita, the wife of the former minister, is accused of colluding with him to misuse his power, acquiring assets worth Tk3,28,43,973, beyond their known income sources.
