The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday issued arrest warrants for seven individuals on charges of crimes against humanity, linked to violent events during the July uprising in Dhaka, specifically in the Mohakhali, Rampura, and Gulshan areas.
The decision came from a bench led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, following a petition filed earlier in the day.
Prosecutor Gazi Monawar Hossain Tamim shared the details with the press after the court session, although the prosecution did not reveal the names or identities of the individuals targeted by the arrest orders.
The ICT has issued arrest warrants for 115 individuals across 18 cases concerning crimes against humanity, genocide, and enforced disappearances.
Out of these, 35 accused individuals are currently in custody.
The prosecution team expressed optimism that investigations into additional cases related to the July-August uprising will be wrapped up this month.
Tamim said: "The ICT's prosecution and investigation agency are working tirelessly, and they are hopeful that several investigation reports will be submitted to the chief prosecutor's office within the coming weeks."
